Volunteer with Kaleideum

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Kaleideum! As a volunteer, you can help in a variety of positions, depending on your personal interest and/or the needs at our two locations. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities, both indoor and outdoor, that interact with the public or behind-the-scenes.

Volunteer Opportunities

Science Demonstrations – Volunteers present a variety of science demonstrations to our visitors. Volunteers in this position must be comfortable presenting science information to the public, engaging directly with visitors, and handling fragile materials and chemicals. **Volunteers needed year-round. (Kaleideum North Only)

Special Events – Assist staff with serving food, crowd control, set-up, and clean-up. Assist guests and contractors with craft activities, lifting and moving materials, and monitoring science demonstration tables. **Special events are usually held on weekends or evenings throughout the year.  (Both Downtown and North locations)

Program Assistant – Assist Kaleideum Educators during scheduled school field trips. Duties include assisting students with program activities, assisting Educators with clean up, and any other duties as needed. **Volunteers needed weekday mornings year-round.

Parent’s Night Out Events – Interact closely with children while their parents enjoy a night to themselves. This event requires volunteers to be closely attentive of the children under their charge and assist with activities during the evening, including pizza dinner, crafts, and active participation in museum free time. **Parent’s Night Out is held once every other month. (Both North and Downtown locations)

Summer Camp – Summer camp volunteers will be required to be in camp for one or two shifts per day.  Each shift spans a total of 4hrs. Duties include assisting lead and assistant teachers with gathering, passing out, and cleaning up materials for crafts and activities, escorting children to the bathroom, monitoring children during free time, and reporting behavior and injury incidents. (**A special Orientation Training Session is required to be completed before a volunteer can work in summer camp)

Boy Scout and Girl Scout Camp-Ins – Assist staff with activities and crafts, prepare and serve food, and assist with set up and clean up. **Volunteers needed on Friday evenings in the Fall and Spring.
